Planter House

Didsbury

Planter house seeks to add valuable space to a typical Manchester semi detached home. In response to the client's brief, the extension needed to offer a more practical kitchen and offer a space for dining, whilst being able to accommodate visitors when required. This led to a light touch intervention that wraps around the existing house. By opening up the corner of the existing house the kitchen and dining room presents as well proportioned space that is afforded framed views of the garden, whilst guest accommodation is positioned within the  foot print of the existing house. Skylights within the pitched roof frame views offer glimpses of the trees that line the eastern boundary. Woodwool ceilings, expressed timber roof joists, pained steel and timber windows and doors come together to create a warm and inviting material palette.
